Miziuro wondered how she could possibly handle the many viewpoints. Seeing from more points of view than was natural was difficult and ofttimes painful, sometimes to the point of agony; he knew from an interesting little alchemical experiment with quicksilver and glass. Even new gods; if the books he read were any guide; had troubles with it.
The other thing on his mind was her spell. Although there was no discernible pattern to whether the lasers curved in at him or became rings of light, there seemed to be something off about it. He couldn't quite tell what.
Well, maybe she would humor some questions afterwards. For now, it was best to focus on his spell. Around now he should start firing the bullets more often, and then some time after that the columns would rebound... He was looking forward to that. They weren't huge columns... But they certainly weren't small.
"And all this because I'm out of water chestnuts. Apparently I should go look for ingredients more often."

Mizuiro's spell started to speed up, and Yukari was not at all surprised. He really liked spells that got progressively harder, didn't he? Well, if he managed to hit her and take out her spell that affected the border of light, he'd end up facing a spell of hers that did that... but no use thinking about that. She flew around between the bullets, still making sure to be careful around the fire columns. The heat haze was slightly uncomfortable, so she gave the fire bullets a wider berth than usual. Didn't want to get all sweaty and ruin her beauty, after all~

Mizuiro happily fired away, and although it was almost imperceptible in his self-imposed heat haze, he grinned when one of the columns rebounded and passed right through him, basically turning him invisible from the intense heat.
She seemed to be avoiding the flame altogether. Could she not see the bullets as well as he suspected? This would be easier than he thought...
Even in his intense blur, Mizuiro could see her spell and react to it just fine; heat haze didn't block him up much. He was more than used to seeing through it, since he lived and slept submersed in lava. This level of intensity did require he use a little magic on his eyes, which made them glow, but this was a mostly effortless action.

Oh, Yukari could still see the bullets at this point, though it was getting slightly more troublesome. She just didn't like getting close to them if she didn't have to.
She couldn't see the other youkai in his ball of heat, but his location was still obvious from the concentration. No matter, though. With the waves that constantly shattered and reformed around her swirling out in all directions, she didn't have to see him to hit him. She ducked under a column of fire, and idly wondered if she might have to take a bath after this from all the heat.

Ah yes, it was that part of the spell. The heat haze would now intensify to blur everything on the stage, and where previously the fire bullets were the only source, now they were the particularly hard-to-see spots. Mizuiro stifled laughing again, knowing that the best part was yet to come.
Hmm, it seemed her spell was another stale one. That is, it would stay the same but for her movement. Mizuiro wondered vaguely what use a spell was like that; as soon as you got used to it you just had to keep doing that, unless the spell was fast or complex enough.
He had decided that the thing that was off about her spell was it reminded him vaguely of his chakram project that he hadn't quite finished. It bugged him to not finish something. Oh, it was useable, but it was not done.
Well, he had free movement, may as well use it. He shifted his position to the right, albeit slowly so he could continue to deal with Yukari's spell properly. Firing the initiation shots at a sharper angle tended to make things more difficult, especially now that the columns were rebounding.

Ah, now the heat was actually a bit of a problem... Yukari couldn't see through the heat haze very well, though she could still see far better than a normal youkai would, and it didn't exactly feel comfortable either. What an annoying spellcard. She would have to take a bath after this for sure.
She wasn't even sure it was worth continuing with this spellcard. Even with how fast and unpredictable the waves and separate bullets were, it seemed that Mizuiro had gotten used to it. What an odd youkai. Well, at least she could still sort of tell where the bullets were- just avoid the worst bits of haze, right?

And NOW it was happy fun murder time. As Mizuiro had so delicately chosen to put it in his current state of excitement.
His upper two sets of wings angled in front of him. The top set began firing wide waves of small red fuzzy bullets. The lower set fired likewise but nonparallel waves of tiny red fuzzy bullets, which were nearly impossible to see. Not only that, he started firing the initiation shots just a touch faster, all in all creating a volcano-temperature arena filled with flame.
It seemed his opponent was doing well so far, offensively and defensively. Although he'd stopped paying attention to that, really; he focused more on his defense, since his spell largely took care of itself and he wanted to see if it got her. To that point, he thought of the rings of light as bladed chakrams, envisioning a familiar image and focusing on sustaining his pattern thus far.

The nearly-invisible heat bullets had caught Yukari off guard. She frowned, and unconsciously loosened her control over her appearance one more time. Unlike the fangs and claws, which were fairly subtle, this time her gold eyes had been revealed to be truly a piercing red-violet and the dark violet and eyes of the void in her gaps now flickered through the purple of her dress and all the shadows cast on her skin.
She hadn't expected to be worn down to her last non-spell. If she got careless again, she might even have to pull out another spellcard. In theory, this non-spell was simple. Rings of bright violet daggers shot out from random spots around her, creating non-overlapping circles of danmaku. The only reason that it was difficult was that Yukari had taken this simple idea and put a significant portion of her power behind it- the bullets were dense, and moved faster than anything she had used thus far. Blinking was enough for one, maybe two rings of bullets to go by.

Mizuiro smiled when she got hit, and then immediately refocused when he saw the daggers coming in with such speed. He vaguely wondered if there was supposed to be a limit to how fast you could make your bullets go.
Ah, and it was a random spell. Probably nonprogressive though, so in theory only a little harder than her last one... In theory. But these were both dense and fast, so he would have to pay close attention.
It was hard not to feel almighty right now, though. With the entire area bathed in flames and him firing away scores of bullets per second along with the columns, it felt like a purification by flame. Mizuiro chased such thoughts, and most other thoughts, from his mind; if he wanted to win now, everything had to be perfect...

Even being perfect might not be enough, because Yukari was feeling a bit pressured.
And pressuring Yukari was like tickling a sleeping Western dragon on the nose- a good way to get it to wake up and roast you alive. There was a limit to how fast your bullets were supposed to go, and these didn't quite hit it.
She moved to try and avoid the swarms of bullets, taking the randomized centers of her high-speed dagger rings with her. She couldn't see the bullets very well, but now she knew more what to expect from the flames that covered the field. And if he managed to hit her again, well, she would just have to pull out something to make his spell look pathetic.
