Yukari drifted around the lasers and bullets pretty easily. This had the appearance of one of Mizuiro's patterns that would get more intense, so she figured she'd enjoy the pace while it lasted. She had been having fun with the faster spellcard, but getting to relax a bit again was nice. Helped her maintain her own magic better, too. Sure, she was powerful enough of a youkai that it didn't matter so much, but the distracting strain of moving around quickly while maintaining her stronger spells could have made her slip up with her appearance again if it had gone on.

Mizuiro was not terribly worried about her spell, but then she didn't seem terribly worried about his. That was alright. Even though he really should be trying to win, the forge youkai was becoming impatient; he wanted to see if his final spell card would be the one to take her off-guard. She was an impressive youkai, and naturally he wondered about the limits of her power.
She seemed very odd somehow, though. An excellent opponent, but probably not someone to socialize with regularly, he imagined.
At least he could count on her pattern becoming stale as she was forced into tiny movements. It wouldn't happen just yet, not unless her skill suddenly dropped...

Yukari had been expecting some kind of shift in the pattern, given how simply it had started, and with the lasers firing more often, she was less able to go floating everywhere. Hm. It wasn't a problem for her- it made her spirals a bit less unpredictable than she'd like, but they were still not synchronized and the way they overlapped still changed with each rotation.
She was interested to see what he'd pull out for his last spellcard. She still had two more for this battle, and she didn't think she'd get to pull out both of them unless she intentionally let him get a couple of hits on her... but ah well, such was the way things went when a youkai with Yukari's intense power challenged most anyone.

Since Mizuiro was paying less attention to the pattern and more attention to dodging it, he had not at first noticed there seemed to be different colors of daggers. Nor did this change anything.
He still couldn't remember how much she had left, not that it mattered. He was pretty sure he'd knock her hard at least twice more before this was over.
Aaand here came the minimal movement part. In a turn, perhaps, he'd use the fireballs.
Oh yes, and he had to remember to make a special offering for Shizuha in the hopes of these eye things not invading his dreams.

This was about the point where Yukari stopped caring about her non-spell. She was quite bored of it, and Mizuiro was almost done with his last non-spell. So she gathered some energy, than edged purposely into a laser with a deadly, feral grin across her face.

What was she doing...? Ah. She wanted this to get fun. Oh, very well. Might as well return the favor.
And with that, Mizuiro moved into one of the bullets, and bit down on one of the daggers.
Danmaku tasted weird. Anyway, the heat radiant around him intensified, almost blurring his form. His metallic wings and claws glowed. He started taking deep breaths, and closed his eyes for a moment...

The gaps around the area they were fighting in expanded suddenly, and the familiar cracks in the backdrop showing the sky and shrine were suddenly gone. There was light, but it was only the glow that emanated from the magic power of the two combatants. Yukari declared her spellcard. [Boundary Sign "Border Of Wave And Particle"] Instantly, the purple void with its distant eyes was illuminated by the blindingly fast swirls of danmaku that shot out from around Yukari. It appeared to be curved lasers that shifted in color and whipped around in a spiral that occasionally reversed directions, but this was soon proven to only be accurate half the time- the other half, the "lasers" broke up into composite bullets in swift, spinning rings of evenly-spaced balls of light. The tint of the brilliant glow shifted just as often as the shape. [duration: 7]

Mizuiro gathered his strength. Due to the heat his form now blurred enough to make it difficult to see where he was, and the air around him became dry. He had to admit this purple eye arena thing was kind of cool. Yukari over there shone with her power, and he was basically a huge torch. But that was all for later. Because now was endgame.
Mizuiro had a huge grin on his face. His wings clashed together, matching his voice as the final spellcard was declared.
Forge Sign: Volcano-Core Smelter
This is almost always Mizuiro's last spell. In this spell, he fires a very fast fire bullet down past the opponent; a huge column of fire moving at average-slow speed comes up either directly from the bullet or angled slightly. it is made entirely up of fire bullets. Mizuiro continues to fire the fast "initiation shots" as time goes on, which forces the opponent to pay attention to behind and in front of them; to avoid the columns and fast shots. during midspell, the columns will rebound once back at the opponent. during latter spell, Mizuiro will shoot many tiny and small red danmaku. The deadliest part of this spell, however, is that every single fire bullet, and Mizuiro himself, creates a heat haze, thereby blurring the form of the danmaku; enough to make it hard to tell exactly where the hitbox is. This heat haze gets so intense during latter spell that it becomes impossible to discern the exact location of any one danmaku. Mizuiro has free movement during this spell, as well.
The forge youkai laughs aloud as soon as he fires the single fire bullet. Yukari would almost certainly expect the fast bullet to do something behind her. He wondered how she would deal with the heat haze soon to come?
...Besides having to use moisturizer for the next week or so, he was certain he could hit her at least once, likely twice. This was his masterpiece spell; and border youkai or no, let's see you dodge when you can't see what you're supposed to dodge properly...

The boundary of light's form versus the heat of a volcanic forge. A worthy match, and if Mizuiro took this one down, then her last spellcard... Yukari grinned, unconsciously relaxing her control over her appearance again. Her perfectly elegant and delicate-looking hands looked much less delicate, though every bit as graceful, with the curved and impossibly sharp claws that now tipped her fingers... or, really, had all along.
She moved aside, out of the way of the fire bullet, and didn't have to turn her head to see the column of flame that resulted. Her eyes were not just on her face, but in the violet void where they now clashed. She didn't have to stay put, the spiral waves and rings of particles of light shifted around with her, making the places where it was safe to be shift around even faster than their already-dizzying speed.

Hm? How did she know to avoid the column? The heat? Surely not, not unless she had an affinity for fire. Hah, maybe she had eyes in the back of her head. It wouldn't surprise him at this point.
He tried to avoid her spell calmly. The rings of light were interesting, as were the lasers; the speed was not a great problem for him, and he figured he could deal with the spell decently.
It was probably a border spell. He wondered what of. It was certainly very bright though, illuminating all those bloody eye things. As he fired off another bullet, he wondered if she was aware of the effect of the heat haze yet.
Wait. Eyes?
Bloody hell, this was probably her own personalized arena. There was probably no way to get rid of it, but there may be a way to give himself a little advantage. Although it did nothing negative for him, he tried radiating as much heat as possible to obscure his form, and anything around him. It was worth a shot, at least.
If Yukari was paying attention right before he did, she would have seen traces of lava along his metallic wings and claws, and on his teeth. After all, Mizuiro liked to stay hydrated for such occasions.

Yukari had in fact seen the lava traces, and it amused her. The heat haze wasn't really affecting her yet- she could still see just fine, especially considering their surroundings. With it constantly increasing, though, it might give her trouble later on. She didn't need to put too much effort in to dodge yet, and simply avoided each bullet as it came near.
Hm. Of all the youkai around his level of strength, this was one of the more interesting fights she'd had thus far. Perhaps she'd have to keep him in mind in case she got bored again.
