Even with all of his attacks directed straight at her limited range, Yukari didn't hesitate once. She stood up off of the gap she was usually seated on, and it vanished, leaving her floating truly effortlessly in the air. She was truly serious now, and she swiftly sidestepped the first slash with perfect timing, with the red bullets skimming past her. She leapt off of the air to make it over the next, and moved in the instant of a gap between the directed slashes without losing her composure or her grin. This was fun. Being boxed in and nearly being grazed by the bullets like this... it reminded her of fights so long ago she wasn't sure who had started them. It made her heart race with anticipation.

Oh ho. Was she serious now? Mizuiro considered this to be a compliment, considering she seemed to think a lot of herself. Right, she liked borders? Time for one of his more impressive nonspells.
Non - Spell: Forge Strike
Mizuiro creates a thick laser border to either side of him, a few feet away, lined up with his opponent so they're both within the border. Large metallic danmaku are fired randomly at the borders, and when they strike, they break up into many smaller danmaku and spray out down the border at the target. This spell requires that the user not move much.
The nonspell was limited movement, but he was doing that already so that was okay. Mizuiro decided to humor his talkative opponent, not knowing how true his words were...
"Enjoying yourself, border youkai!?"

Yukari laughed, in a way that sounded completely normal yet somehow off, as if it didn't quite fit completely into reality.
"My, how formal. I haven't been called 'border youkai' in a long time," she said as she dove through a small space in the first widening spray of bullet fragments. Talking didn't throw her off, luckily.
"And to answer your question, I am. I do love boundaries. They twist so easily in my grasp," she added, still grinning. Had she had fangs before? Yukari's features were usually consistently lovely and deceptively innocent, but every so often she'd forget to maintain something and she'd slip, look a bit more like the dangerous being she truly was.

So his opponent was refined on the surface, eh? Heh, well then. Mizuiro had seen things similar to that before. If you could get them fired up enough, sometimes they stopped paying attention...
Mizuiro visibly changed his style, throwing more energy and sharpness into his movements, where previously he moved fluidly. This helped with the lasers, but made the bullets slightly harder. It also made his own attack somewhat more intense, as shots were fired off harsh and fast, if not as accurately.

Yukari quickly noticed the change in Mizuiro's style. She chuckled. Was he trying to get her to pay less attention to maintaining her image? She wasn't about to slip anymore, though. She didn't want to scare him too much, after all.
With the more random scattering of his bullets, even if there were more of them, Yukari didn't feel terribly threatened as she floated just a tiny bit sideways so that one full spray completely passed her to her left.
Her opponent certainly seemed to enjoy amping up the difficulty over the course of an attack. She did have a few cards that did that. She would have to remember to pick one of those next.

Mizuiro paused for a second to recover. That was a rush of actions.
Oh well. He raised the blade again..
"Sword Sign - Tear Away the Soul"
With this spell, three circles of blue bullets, each on a slightly different trajectory, are fired away from mizuiro. They are stopped midway, and he makes a slash motion. This motion creates a faint line from which many small blue bullets scatter; and any of the former bullets near this line become large, and then the former bullets continue on their way as the next three rows are fired. Exactly when this slash is made can be changed by some margin.
This one didn't get better over time. It was already "better". Would she be expecting the sudden stop and spray? After all, he could change exactly when he slashed by a small margin... Might as well keep it unpredictable.
As for her pattern... He moved back into fluid movements. If she had reacted it would have been almost instantly, so no sense in doing that any more. Back to fighting careful.

Yukari carefully watched Mizuiro's pattern as the bullets flew out, and prepared herself to dart around them within the small area her own card still limited her to. The larger bullets that came through made it quite tricky, though. It was an interesting spellcard, she thought to herself. She had seen so many spellcards, many of them unbelievably intense, but so many still caught her attention for creativity. Her spellcard was just about done, so she tried to put a bit more strength into its final couple of bursts, while still fluttering around her self-imposed cage.

Since he could move freely with this one, as opposed to his nonspell, dealing with this mesh thing was easier again, as it had been with his former sword spell. The change in movement was minimal but helpful. Otherwise, he maintained his previous strategy; stay out of the lasers and then make minor movements for the danmaku.
A though occurred to him. She'd said she liked boundaries earlier, as opposed to borders. Was there a difference? Perhaps it was important. Certainly worth considering...
As for his pattern... Normally there was a three second delay between slashes, but he could affect it by roughly .5 in either direction. He supposed he would go 2.5, 3, 3.5, 3, 3.5, 2.5, repeat. That pattern ought to work well.
[Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, duration for spell is 7.]

Yukari Yakumo- Bounded Field "Mesh of Light and Darkness": Hit/timeout, spellcard cancelled

[You are mistaken, your third spell's duration is 5. 7 will be the duration of your fifth and final spellcard- you do not gain duration for nonspells.]

Well, now, she was developing a bit of a bad habit of letting herself take hits when she was about to time out anyways. Yukari made a mental note not to do that again. Even if it was easy.
The border youkai started up another non-spell pattern- and it was not the same as the first two. It still consisted of dagger bullets, and the blue color remained, but now the other color was green. The bullets shot out in overlapping curved lines of green slightly overlaid with blue, forming a huge, intricate spirograph pattern that rotated around her- each section of open space would slowly close in to nothing while others around them opened up. The lines of bullets were crossable, but fast and dense enough to make it quite dangerous. It wouldn't be too troublesome, as long as her opponent didn't slip up his timing even once... and it did box him in a bit.

Ahh, so finally a nice nonspell. It didn't look like the timing would be too hard, though his movement had become limited again. It was a common strategy in danmaku to do so. With any luck she wouldn't expect what happened in his last spell. But that was neither here nor there.
At least her spell was kind of pretty. Especially against the spectral blue of his own. He really should think about the beauty of danmaku sometime; Shizuha was practically an aspect of beauty. Oh well. He decided to approach her spell carefully. The openings would have to be taken as they appeared. If he went through the rings successfully it would be much easier; if he got through them. That seemed risky, but if moving through the openings didn't work he'd go for the dare. It might work better for him.
He completely flipped his pattern, changing all the 2.5's to 3.5's and then reversing it. Let's see how you deal with this, border youkai...

Luckily for Yukari, she hadn't been paying attention to his pattern. She continued to wait for the slash and deal with it as it came, and drifted from side to side as necessary to get out of the way of the larger bullets- this moved her entire swiftly-moving spirograph with her, without disrupting its beauty too much. The interplay of the colorful bullets was ever so lovely with all this blue, she thought as she leaned ever-so-slightly to the left so that a bullet would skim past without touching her.
