Non-spells usually didn't increase in speed before timing out unless you were facing someone very notable. There were exceptions to the rule, something Yukari had failed to take into account... She barely noticed the sensation of the bullet hitting her, but it was still under spellcard rules, and her violet bullets stopped. "Nice one. I wasn't expecting that," the boundary youkai called across the field, her grin widening slightly. Interesting youkai, this. She might just have to keep an eye on him later. She already knew which spellcard to declare. Drifting back to her original position, she readied herself... [Bounded Field "Curse Of Dreams And Reality"] Immediately, two harmless flashes of orange light flew out from Yukari at angles, stopping where they formed a square with the two youkai at opposite corners. They both dissolved into scattered squares of brilliant green bullets that were pointed on both ends, and while one set of bullets simply spread out in a chaotic but even fashion, the other set aimed right for Mizuiro and shot forward. Of course, once they started moving, they didn't turn, a simple limitation that made the spellcard more beautiful to watch. [Duration: 4]

Hah, so it had worked. After all, what good was a spell that stayed the same?
He chose to stay silent and pay attention; interesting spellcard. It looked like only minor movements would be needed, albeit from all sides. That was alright; even minor movements fluctuated the bullets for his next spellcard. She seemed rather neutral in alignment, but since she did have that aura of pride, may as well go with light. He shouted the name of his spellcard, his voice like blades clashing together;
[Forge Sign: Hikari No Kajiba]
Mizuiro thrusts his palm towards the opponent, sending large light balls and lasers in a somewhat random cone. He then does so with the other palm, this alternation happening about every three seconds.
(As the spell goes on, it speeds up, and sparse fireballs rain forward from behind him in straight lines with the other projectiles. (Speeds up two two-second and then one and a half-second alternations, as duration goes on.))

His minor movements would have to be very well-timed, because the orange flashes repeated before the prior set of aimed bullets had passed, sending another wave out- and Yukari was not sticking to small, slow movements. With his aimed cones of lasers and lights, she was ducking swiftly around them as best she could, and this shifted the directions that her attacks were coming from. Her spell would always center itself between the two youkai, so she didn't need to stay put to aim.

(assuming that was dodge post and we simply don't need to say that all the time.)
...Well blast.
This was certainly not going to be easy. Mizuiro was by no means going to allow himself to lose to the first spell card, and made sure to keep doubt out of mind... however hard that was. Rhythm came easy to the forge. Timing too, though not as much. Let's see.. Perhaps small, rough circles would help. Deal with the aimed shots and move fairly through the others, in theory anyway. Don't care too much about aiming; if she's moving around it won't matter much.
But of course she had to zip around the place. His first spell really was too flashy; he ought to improve it. Ah well. At least it would get harder over time, almost imperceptibly..

Yukari continued to weave about, and almost didn't notice the fireballs until she had to drop suddenly a couple feet to avoid one. It seemed as if his patterns might have a tendency to start slow and pile on more as they dragged on. Very interesting. She would have to be careful not to fall for it again like she had with his non-spell. The cone was still easy enough to weave around, though, and her erratic movement wouldn't make things easy on her opponent, she was fairly sure.

Dratdratdratdrat she was so going to pay for this when he got his next spell out.... Seemed she didn't like progressive attacks. Hmm.
Mizuiro was having too many close calls for comfort. Well, at least it was satisfying to watch her dip to avoid the fireball, and the sharp movement had left a gap in her pattern that allowed him a quick breath.
Yukari Yakumo. Better memorize that. This was fun...

Aagh.. Oh well. This nonspell may not be threatening, but Mizuiro took heart in that next spell, the sword came out.
Nonspell: Fire Plume
Starting at one end, aimed away from the target, Mizuiro begins firing a large, vaguely cone-shaped blast of fire danmaku. This plume is then swept across in a wide slash. During the latter part of this spell, a small amount of large red danmaku are fired in the general direction of where the sweep started, as the sweep ends.
It was a sweeping nonspell, and also an intimidating one. Besides being a mass of moving fire that had to be moved through, the red bullets later on tended to cause panic in less experienced opponents. Obviously Yukari was not one, but then again she seemed to have problems with sudden changes; she was probably the kind of person who was used to homeostasis. Like a hibernating bear.
He paid slightly less attention to dodging and more to aiming. He was used to the spell by now; especially having been hit; and besides, he was itching to use the blade...

Yukari had little experience with sweeping patterns, but she'd seen them before. She turned sideways, still sitting on her gap and not even having to hold on. Her hair appeared to be ignoring the true direction of gravity, hanging in the direction of her feet rather than falling across her face. Her spell's firing points became vertically oriented rather than horizontally as a result, but this made it a bit easier for her to look up at the oncoming bullets and shift a bit to fit through the small spaces in the large sweep.

...What in Shizuha's name...
Gravity youkai? No, that didn't make sense. Obviously something to do with manipulating something he would otherwise take for granted. She had a set static point spell, a... Thing she was sitting on, and now this. Maybe she just manipulated reality.
Either way, now he had to deal with her spell differently. It seemed like it might be easier than before, but Mizuiro didn't change his tactic. He DID make a silent thank-you to Shizuha for representing something understandable and natural. As opposed to this...
...Whatever she was.

Yukari hastily flipped back upright, making a mental note that it was in fact harder to dodge while sideways. She'd need to practice more with that to be effective.
Well, that had knocked out her spellcard pattern. She had a moment to collect herself, and she started another non-spell pattern.
It was similar to her first, with rings of violet dagger bullets flying out at uneven speeds and overlap that became a sort of zigzag as they went. But it now included additional rings of bright blue bullets that were more predictable than the violet ones, since they were straight and always flew out from her at the same angle, but faster and released with two rings immediately following each other.

Well, that's what you get for being fancy... And she wasn't even pulling out a very impressive nonspell. It was the first one, with a tactic that should have been added on as it went. This wouldn't be very hard; and besides, now he got to throw some big red danmaku at her too.
He was worried about her next spell, though; if it was anything like her last he would have to be careful... But for now, he didn't really have to act much differently than the last time this nonspell appeared to survive.

Yukari knew her nonspell was't terribly creative, but the chaotic pattern mixed with the more stable one was deceptive and might catch him off guard, if she was lucky. Really, Yukari depended on her spellcards, not her non-spells. This was just to buy her time. She didn't move around as much as she had before- there wasn't as much room to, she had to move quickly and carefully in a small area to get through the sweeps. When she did get through a sweep, she moved to another area to throw her pattern off a bit, and that was when she noticed the red danmaku. It didn't catch her so off-guard this time, and she attempted to swoop around them while still keeping an eye out for another sweep.
